Standard Solar creates an innovative solution for New Jersey school seeking to forward sustainability and address needs around their roof and parking lot
Standard Solar developed and will own, operate and maintain a 611 kW combined rooftop and carport solar project for the special education school The Center School. The Standard Solar team addressed multiple needs for the school by financing and constructing a new roof and paved parking lot in addition to the solar array. This allowed The Center School to fulfill their goal to reduce their carbon footprint and serve as an example of environmental stewardship to its students and the community while simultaneously handling infrastructure needs.
The project was financed through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Standard Solar, and the construction of the project coincided with the school’s 50th Anniversary. It was awarded the 2021 Environmental Stewardship Award by the local township, the Franklin Township Environmental Commission. The system is expected to save the school at least $30,000 a year.
The Center School project was also a finalist in the 2022 Solar Builder Project of the Year Awards.
