Standard Solar supports Isle of Wight County School’s pursuit of clean energy leadership
This 3.3 MW, six array rooftop solar system offsets almost half of the total electricity needs of the Isle of Wight County Schools. The arrays are located on six of the district’s schools serving Smithfield, VA and are one of the first clean energy initiatives in the area. The system is saving the schools money and allowing them to operate in an environmentally sustainable way.
The project offers visible proof of the district’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and energy management to its students, parents, staff and visitors. It also means that the Isle of Wight schools have joined the over 90 other Virginia schools that have taken the leap to solar.
The arrays are on the rooftops of Carrollton Elementary School, Carrsville Elementary School, GD Tyler Middle School, Smithfield Main, Windsor Elementary School and Windsor High School.
