Standard Solar and development partner Acadia Energy developing a 7.5 MW solar array on a repurposed biomass plant site in Maine.
Standard Solar and Acadia Energy, a New Hampshire-based developer, are creating a 7.5 MW solar farm on the former ReEnergy biomass plant site in the town of Fort Fairfield, Maine. They have leased the land from Smith’s Farm, Inc and land formerly used for a biomass power facility by ReEnergy Biomass Operations.
The Fort Fairfield Solar Project is unique in that it takes underutilized land and transforms it into a clean energy producer benefiting the local community and the greater Aroostook County. The fixed-tilt ground-mount system is expected to be complete by the end of 2022 and will generate 9,112 MWh annually, with 10% of the energy going to Smith’s Farm.
