Standard Solar is the long-term owner and operator of the 13.7 MW Costen Solar Farm, which provides electricity to a major Maryland-based healthcare system, one of the state’s largest energy consumers and employers. The project delivers approximately 19,700 MWh of clean electricity annually, helping the healthcare system significantly reduce its carbon footprint while also supporting Maryland’s Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard.
Developed under a 20-year commercial power purchase agreement with Standard Solar, the project gives the healthcare system predictable access to clean energy without upfront costs or operational risk. This structure has allowed the organization to advance its sustainability commitments while keeping its focus and resources on patient care. The project also serves as a strong model for other healthcare providers, among the most energy-intensive institutions in communities across the country.
Standard Solar partnered with Choptank Electric Cooperative and PJM to bring the project to life.
