Hello from your friends at Standard Solar:
The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) has just announced they will stop accepting application packages for the Fiscal Year 2009 Maryland Solar Energy Grants after Monday, December 1, 2008. This means that if you’re not on the list before then – Tuesday, November 25 to be safe – you will not have access to the maximum grant amount from the State of Maryland. If you intend to take advantage of this generous and important incentive, you must act now to get on the waitlist.
The FY09 MEA Solar Grant for solar electric systems is $2,500 per installed kilowatt, with a maximum cap of $10,000. This means a 3 kilowatt system can qualify for a $7,500 grant; 4 kilowatt and larger systems can qualify for the maximum $10,000 grant. As noted in the Program Update below, after December 1 MEA will add grant applications to a new waitlist. However, the new grant guidelines are not yet written and those guidelines will likely result in lower grant amounts per kilowatt installed.
If you already have a proposal from us, contact your Standard Solar representative today for the next steps by calling 301-944-1200. If you don’t know whom to call, please contact our Residential Solar Consultant, Brian Desmond on his mobile at 410-952-3585. You can email him at email@example.com.
If we haven’t conducted a free solar analysis and on-site inspection for you yet, here is what you need to do – immediately: Complete the form located at https://www.standardsolar.com/Solar-Evaluation.aspx. Near the end of this form, you’ll be asked how quickly you’d like to be contacted. The sooner we contact you, the better your chances of getting the maximum grant amount. When it’s complete, be sure to click on the submit button.

MEA Program Update: “The MEA Solar Energy Grant Program has proven extremely popular and has resulted in an extensive waiting list which MEA intends to fund before the end of the 2009 fiscal year, ending, June 30th, 2009. . . . MEA is beginning to look now to issue new regulations for the Solar Grant Program. . . .Those currently on or added to the waitlist by November 30th will remain eligible for grant amounts as the program currently stands. Any applications received by MEA after December 1, 2008 will continue to be reviewed, and placed in order on a new waitlist for fiscal year 2010, but official grant calculations for those on the new waitlist will not be finalized by MEA until the new regulations are put in place. More program updates to follow, please check back here regularly.”
