Founded in 1785, the Town of Emmitsburg is a historic community located in northern Fredrick County. Known for its historical landmarks and beautiful parks, the town takes pride in preserving their environment for centuries to come. While staying true to traditions, town government officials felt it was important to pursue a sustainable energy solution that would offer long term benefits to the community. Through a partnership with Standard Solar Inc. and UGI Performance, a 1.12 MW solar array totaling to 6 acres and comprising of nearly 3,800 solar panels was installed. The array offsets the majority of the town’s energy usage and mitigates volatile energy risk for the future. Standard Solar was selected to develop and install the project with partner UGI as the financiers of the 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
